Making porcelain tableware by hand is a very time-consuming process where skill is involved which can result in valuable products. For ones not familiar with the technique of slipcasting this is sometimes hard to understand. De Intuïtiefabriek found a way to give insight in this production process and its effect on final prices in their project ‘SUM’.

‘SUM’ is a colorful collection of porcelain cups, bowls and plates in which every choice for detail, color and finish during the production process has a direct influence on the final result and price. By varying with the quantity of raw materials, the amount of labor put into a product and different finishing techniques De Intuïtiefabriek creates a diverse range of prices within this collection giving consumers the possibility to assemble their own tableware combinations.
